Budapest trip 2018

 BUDAPEST

2018

In 2018, we took a trip to the wonderful cities(s) of Budapest.

The 's' is because it's actually two cities, Buda, and Pest, one each side of the Danube.

I can wholly recommend this place, not only for the great value for money, but for the stunning architecture, friendliness of the people, and the great atmosphere.

Here's one example of the value for money - a ride on the London eye, an eye-watering £40 per person. Here in Budapest, just £12!

It's a must to see the buildings by daylight, but they are also impressively lit at night.

This bar served a HUGE selection of craft ales, lagers, ciders etc. The food was also very good, and it became our 'regular' while we were there, being just around the corner from our hotel, the 'Four Corners' (again, highly recommend).

You'll get a crick in your neck, there's just so much to see.

Even the pathways are laid with care and attention to detail.

One thing in particular we were told to do, and that's a river cruise at night.

Almost as good as Rome, in places.

Sue made a friend.

The view over Pest, from the fisherman's bastion.

The moon appears as the day draws to a close.

Quite proud of this shot of the moon!

The cities have a very vibrant nightlife, so we decided to talk a walk through the street where a lot of them were located, called the 'Ruin Bars', because that's what most of them are!

Famous for it's central market, we just HAD to see for ourselves.

The Budapest eye.

(See video at end of blog)

Was this guy fed up of the place?

Looking over to the eye from Pest.

One of the many bridges over the Danube.

They don't waste anything - even old pianos.

The 'Heroes square' park.

At last we get to take our night cruise on the Danube.

Again, great value for money.

Some videos from the trip.
